Steps lead down 4 metres to the bubbling spring water, which is led through a walled channel to the Saalmühle on the north side of the Kaiserpfalz. The spring is an example of how water has been tapped from springs and layers of water on the slope between the high ground in Rheinhessen and the Rhine Valley floor, and explains the ample supply of water in the Saal area.
In future the spring path will be restored and the Gesundheitsbrunnen and its environs will be enhanced by building measures and artistic design.
